I’m not going to lie, this is probably one of my most favourite podcasts that I’ve recorded and it shows in the chat that James and I had – funny, engaging and full of value.
Not only do we talk German Music festivals, Vauxhall Novas, Zenith Windows & X Factor Auditions but you can tell that James has worked in broadcast media for 15 years and you can tell that he knows how to run and organise successful businesses.
During the COVID lockdown period – James started his ‘dream’ – something that his life had built up to over many, many years – he started his very own Podcast Production Agency but its not without merit – he’s worked with over 100 clients to plan, produce and then monetise their own podcasts after acheiving success on his very own podcast (on his launch, he was wedged between Gary Vee and Tim Ferris).
Its something that every podcast ‘wannabe’ should consider when choosing an agency – have they experienced success? Do they have their very own successful brand and podcast in the charts, do they know how the entire podcast game works?
The Ultimate Podcast Group is a full-service podcast production agency that helps businesses, influencers, experts and brand builders to create impactful, ROI-driving branded audio shows. They uniquely combine James’ 14 years of experience in Broadcast, PR, Branding and Marketing with the fact that he’s got 100+ podcast launches under his belt. He offers expert consultancy and training to brands that want to create content themselves, a ‘done with you’ service where they produce content with the client and a full ‘done for you’ offering where clients record the content, send the the raw audio and they do the rest.

On every SalesChange Podcast – we ask the guests to answer 5 standard questions – here are the responses from James Burtt.
- What was the last book you read?
- What did you want to be when you grew up?
James – Because of the ‘Land Before Time’ and Indiana Jones, I wanted to be an archaelogist!
- Whats the worst job you could imagine doing?
James – I’ve done the worst job, when I was about 18-19, I was working for Zenith Windows, driving around in my Vauxhall Nova and I made my first sale to a house with an elderly couple and I had to go back and tell them they didnt need them. Any job where I am selling something that they don’t need is bad for me.
- What’s the worst sales mistake you’ve ever made?
James – Oh yeah, I was selling far to far in advance. I was closing deals with clients where we hadnt even delivered the original deal.
- Who’s the leader you look up to the most?
James – James Sinclair – the way he handled the entire coronavirus situation and the way he delivered the news to his team, he’s someone I truly admire in business for all that he’s achieved and more.
